How it works
The laser is absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft and the heat travels down to the follicle. Only hairs in their active growth phase can be affected, and at any moment only a fraction of your hair is in that phase, which is why the course is spaced out rather than done in a fortnight. Skipping appointments genuinely costs you results.
Typical course
Six to eight sessions, four to six weeks apart on the face and six to eight weeks on the body. Occasional top ups after.
Who it is not suitable for
Not used on tanned or recently sunburnt skin, during pregnancy, over tattoos, or with photosensitising medication. It does not work on white, grey, red or very fine blonde hair, because there is no pigment for the laser to find.

Questions people ask
Is it permanent?
The accurate term is permanent reduction. Most people finish a course with a large majority of the hair gone and what remains finer and lighter. Hormonal areas, particularly the face, often need a top up once or twice a year.
Can I shave between sessions?
Yes, and you should. Shaving leaves the follicle intact. Waxing, plucking and epilating remove the target the laser needs, so stop those four weeks before you start.
Does it work on darker skin?
Yes, with the right wavelength. We use a longer wavelength that passes the pigment in the skin and reaches the follicle. We patch test everyone 48 hours before the first session.
