How it works
A sterile blade is drawn across taut skin at a shallow angle, taking off the layer of dead cells and the fine vellus hair with it. It is purely mechanical, so there is no acid, no heat and no chance of a reaction. Skin reflects light more evenly straight afterwards, and anything you apply gets through better for the next week.
Typical course
Every four to six weeks, matched to the skin cell cycle.
Who it is not suitable for
Not carried out over active acne, open lesions, cold sores or an eczema or rosacea flare, and not on skin with a lot of raised moles in the treatment path. Avoid if you have used a retinoid in the last five days.

Questions people ask
Will the hair grow back thicker?
No. Vellus hair grows back at the same texture and rate it had before, because cutting a hair does not change the follicle. The idea that shaving thickens hair is a persistent myth.
Is it safe on sensitive skin?
Usually, and often better tolerated than acids because there is nothing chemical involved. Rosacea prone skin is the exception and we assess it case by case.
Can it be combined with something else?
It is a good preparation step. Doing it immediately before a peel or a hydrating facial lets the actives reach further, and we often book the two together.
