Acne & Scarring

What it treats

  • Rolling and boxcar acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores on the cheeks and nose
  • Uneven texture
  • Fine lines
  • Skin laxity alongside scarring

How it works

Fine needles create controlled channels in the skin and radiofrequency energy is released from the needle tips at depth. The channels start a normal wound healing response while the heat remodels the collagen around the scar and releases some of the tethering that pulls a depressed scar down. Treating both at once is why it outperforms needling alone on scarring.

Typical course

Three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.

Who it is not suitable for

Not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an implanted electrical device, over an active infection or cold sore, or within six months of oral isotretinoin. Tell us if you have a history of keloid scarring.

Every treatment here is assessed at consultation first. This list covers the common reasons we would not proceed, and it is not exhaustive. Bring your medication list and tell us about anything you are being treated for.

Questions people ask

How much scarring improvement is realistic?

For rolling and boxcar scarring, a course of three to five typically softens rather than erases. Improvement in the region of half is a fair expectation. Anyone promising complete removal is overselling it.

Is it the same as Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is one brand of radiofrequency microneedling device. The mechanism is the same. We will tell you which handpiece we are using and why during consultation.

Can I have it in summer?

Yes, provided you are strict with SPF 50 and stay out of direct sun for two weeks either side. If you are about to go on holiday, book it for when you get back.
