Acne & Scarring

What it treats

  • Overall texture and tone
  • Shallow scarring
  • Fine lines around the mouth
  • Stretch marks on the body
  • Skin thickness and resilience

How it works

A cartridge of fine needles moves over the skin at a controlled depth, creating thousands of tiny channels. Each one is a small, deliberate injury that heals with new collagen, and together they lift the quality of the skin without removing the surface layer. It is the gentler, lower cost sibling of the radiofrequency version and it suits general texture better than deep scarring.

Typical course

Four to six sessions four weeks apart, then twice yearly maintenance.

Who it is not suitable for

Not used over active acne, an infection or a cold sore outbreak, during pregnancy, or with a history of keloid scarring. Stop retinoids five days before.

Every treatment here is assessed at consultation first. This list covers the common reasons we would not proceed, and it is not exhaustive. Bring your medication list and tell us about anything you are being treated for.

Questions people ask

Is a home roller the same thing?

No. Home rollers cannot reach a useful depth, cannot be sterilised properly, and drag rather than stamp. They are more likely to cause marking than collagen.

Do you use platelet rich plasma with it?

We can. Drawing your own blood and applying the plasma afterwards is a common add on and there is reasonable evidence for faster recovery. It adds £150 and about 25 minutes.

When will I see a difference?

Skin looks brighter within a week from the swelling and the exfoliation. The collagen change builds from about six weeks and is best judged three months after the last session.
