VISIA 3D Skin Analysis

Multi light imaging that measures what is happening under the surface, before you commit to anything.

What it treats

  • Choosing between treatment routes
  • Measuring progress through a course
  • Sun damage not yet visible
  • Pore size, texture and redness
  • Second opinions after conflicting advice

How it works

You rest your chin in the imaging booth and a set of photographs is taken in standard, cross polarised and ultraviolet light, from three angles. Each lighting condition reveals something different: surface texture, vascular activity, and pigment sitting deeper in the skin. The software then scores each measure against a comparison group of the same age and skin type, which turns a photograph into a baseline you can measure against later.

Typical course

Once at the start, then repeated at three and six months to measure progress.

Who it is not suitable for

This is an imaging and planning appointment, not a diagnostic one. It does not assess moles or lesions for skin cancer, and it is not a substitute for a mole check with your GP or a dermatologist. If we see something that concerns us, we will tell you to get it looked at.

Every treatment here is assessed at consultation first. This list covers the common reasons we would not proceed, and it is not exhaustive. Bring your medication list and tell us about anything you are being treated for.

Questions people ask

Why does the ultraviolet image look so much worse?

Because it shows pigment sitting deeper in the skin that is not yet visible at the surface. Almost everyone finds it a shock. It is useful precisely because it shows you what is coming rather than what has arrived.

Do I have to book treatment afterwards?

No. Plenty of people have the scan, get a plan, and go away to think about it or do it elsewhere. You leave with your images and the notes either way.

Can I compare later?

That is the main point of it. Repeat scans are aligned to the original so the comparison is like for like, which is far more reliable than remembering how your skin looked in March.
